Frequently Asked Questions
Edit
Here are a few of the questions or issues which regularly come up on the Aspire One User Forum.
A couple of Basics
Edit
Many of the solutions to basic issues on Linpus require you to 'unlock' the One. Acer set it up to be a very simple machine, but in doing so they hid a lot of the power of the system. The most basic change you can make to enable you to get to a lot more power is to enable the right-click menu on the desktop.
The Command Line
Edit
Many instructions for 'tweaking' Linux use the command line. This is not because you can't do many of the same things with a graphical interface, but because Linux generally provides you with a choice of various graphical ways of doing things - instructions to cover them all would be very lengthy.
Explaining how to do something from the command line is, by comparison, relatively easy - and you can copy & paste the command line instructions from the wiki into your own machine easily. So don't be put off by using the command line: it's just the easiest way to explain things.
